About Leah Shafran Law
Leah Shafran is a compassionate and tenacious advocate for her clients. Knowing that navigating the criminal justice system can be overwhelming, Leah guides her clients at every step of the process, with respect, patience and honesty.
She defends clients before judges and juries on indictable and summary offence matters, appearing regularly in Superior and Ontario Courts of Justice in and around the GTA. Leah has successfully defended clients charged with Murder, Manslaughter, Sexual Assault, Gun and Drug offences. She also appears before administrative tribunals including the Ontario Review Board, Parole Board of Canada, and Ontario Parole Board.

Leah is a licensed lawyer with the Law Society of Ontario. She graduated with law degrees from both the University of Windsor (Canada) and the University of Detroit Mercy (USA). During law school, Leah interned for the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office in Downtown Detroit, Michigan. She was called to the Bar in Ontario after articling for two accomplished female defence lawyers. She worked as an associate at a busy criminal defence firm for five years before founding her own firm in 2020.

Prior to law school, Leah earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario. She grew up in Edmonton, Alberta.

Leah is a member of the Criminal Lawyers' Association (CLA), Women in Canadian Criminal Defence (WICCD), and the Law and Mental Disorder Association (LAMDA).
